Compuware helps raise IT standards in Hong Kong schools
As part of Compuware's global commitment to local communities, Compuware
Hong Kong has donated HK$5 million to establish a Compuware Software Testing
Laboratory which was opened at the Ting Yi Campus of the Hong Kong Institute
of Vocational Education (HKIVE) of the Vocational Training Council (VTC).
Donated in the form of software licenses and training programs, our contribution
was pivotal to the creation of the Compuware Software Testing Laboratory
in the Department of Information and Communications Technology at the
Tsing Yi Campus. The laboratory will help to set up a training center
for IVE/VTC students, a venue for professional courses, and a permanent
center for testing locally developed IT solutions in cooperation with
Hong Kong companies.
IVE students won a project among many software companies which bided
for the project invited by the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC). Students
used Compuware's tools to help develop a Search function to EOC web site
such that visitors can find information and EO related ordinances of their
web site easier. In appreciation to the good work of the project students
and our support, EOC presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the students
and us at one of their public events.
With the goal of enhancing the level of IT skills among tertiary students,
we hope to encourage a closer cooperation between industry and academia,
and support local companies as they automate their supply chain, build
better customer-oriented solutions and streamline operations in order
to compete more effectively.
Compuware helps meet the needs of Hong Kong's future IT manpower requirement
by contributions of placement opportunities for The Cyberport Institute
of Hong Kong students
The Cyberport Institute of Hong Kong (Cyber.i) is Hong Kong's first IT
learning center sponsored by a university devoted entirely to IT education,
with the aim to nurture IT talent for Hong Kong, mainland China and Asia.
It is established to provide practical, state-of-the-art IT education
and training, research and development, and internship and placement,
in collaboration with the IT and other industries.
Compuware participated in the sponsorship of placement program in February
2003. We provided the student with specific technologies as well as connections
to the business world for practical applications. It is hope that the
student will be able to work while lending to leveraging his/her IT knowledge
and skills. Compuware is committed to help meet the needs of Hong Kong's
future IT manpower requirement, to help bridge the gap between the demand
and supply of IT talents, and to support ongoing development in IT.
